Cut & Cap Process
- Conduct a site specific hazard assessment and spot equipment.
- Remove the top section of the wellhead if necessary, to gain access to the wellbore.
- Lower the cutting head to the desired depth of cut.
- Ensure no workers are inside the marked high pressure area and start the Ultra High Pressure Pumping System.
- Water and abrasive are delivered to the cutting head and the casing is quickly pierced. The cutting head is rotated 360 degrees cutting through the casing strings and cement. Cutting time will vary with the number and size of strings to cut, 20 to 30 minutes is a normal cutting time.
- Remove the cutting head and lift the stump out with a backhoe. Normally the stump is lifted out without any problem. However if the ground is frozen or excessive amounts of cement are encountered outside the casing, it can require a hydro vac to loosen or excavation to loosen cement.
- Install our friction fit well cap, c/w UWI inscribed on top.
- Backfill a hole the size of the “badger hole” and move to the next location.
